Sean Walkinshaw, pleased with his top-five in Hungary

Scotland´s driver achieved his best ever result in the Euroformula Open, finishing fifth on Saturday. Now the championship shall visit Silverstone, the Home of British Motor Racing, and home event for Walkinshaw

Sean Walkinshaw (Campos Racing) will long remember Saturday´s Euroformula Open race at Hungaroring, as he was able to achieve his best result in the series so far. Fourth on the starting grid, another amazing performance, Walkinshaw finished fifth at the end of the race after battling with Sandy Stuvik and John Simonyan, both RP Motorsport drivers.

“Everything almost went to plan on Saturday”, said the Campos Racing driver, “I managed to put all my best sectors together in qualifying to put us up there, we always knew on Friday we had the pace to do it”, Walkinshaw explained afterwards. “The race was OK but, unfortunately, when Simonyan overtook me he cut the chicane and slowed me down which allowed Stuvik to pass. Simonyan got punished but it’s a shame it enabled Stuvik to get by as I think I would have held him off, we could have been fourth.”

Unfortunately for him, he could not equal his previous performance on Sunday, as flu symptoms appeared. Finally he came 10th.

Now, Walkinshaw is heading off to Silverstone, for another round of the Euroformula Open taking place next week.
